Hi, I’m Uraz Kaspar, a media entrepreneur, lecturer and journalist based in Reykjavík, Iceland.
I am one of the early pioneers of Turkey’s podcast ecosystem. I co-founded Podfresh, the country’s largest podcast network, and Poddict, its first podcast marketplace. Through these ventures, we helped build the foundations of audio storytelling in Turkey, produced award-winning projects, and received leading advertising and technology awards in the country.
In 2019, I founded Podfresh Podcast Academy and led more than 250+ online and in-person podcast training programs across approximately ten cities in Turkey, working with leading institutions, NGOs and media organizations.
I co-led the strategy and execution of Turkey’s first dedicated podcast awards, the Power Podcast Awards, working alongside an exceptional team to contribute to the recognition and institutionalization of the medium nationwide. I also served as a jury member for some of Turkey’s leading marketing and advertising awards. I have also appeared as a speaker at more than one hundred academic and industry panels and events. Meetup İstanbul, Istanbul Marketing Summit, IAB Audio Webinar, MMA Turkey
I lead Turkey’s first rectorate-approved university course on podcasting at Yeditepe University and have developed new media programs at Kadir Has, Bahçeşehir and Nişantaşı University, connecting academic knowledge with real-world practice.
Journalism has been a childhood aspiration of mine. For many years in Turkey, I was deeply involved in building media ventures and educational programs, yet I could not dedicate the time and focus I truly wanted to reporting. Moving to Iceland opened a new chapter. For the past three years, living in Reykjavík has reshaped my perspective both personally and professionally, allowing me to pursue journalism with greater clarity and intention. I write for T24, interpreting Icelandic society and culture for Turkish readers.
Through izlanda.co, I aim to build a meaningful bridge between Turkey and Iceland, fostering deeper understanding between the two societies and contributing to the international visibility of what I believe is one of the most extraordinary countries in the world. Today, I dedicate my full time and focus to establishing izlanda.co as an independent media platform documenting Iceland through journalism, insight and lived experience.
